He focuses on the issue of creating agricultural production cooperatives. He presents it in a broader ideological and political context, attempting to assess its course and effects. He indicates that collectivization in the Mława district took place with varying intensity, but without the use of physical coercion, using economic incentives, and often using extralegal methods of action. The creation of
cooperatives was inept, without the proper involvement of the party and administrative apparatus. Most of the established cooperatives did not achieve the intended goals. It was impossible to achieve an increase in the level of management – on the contrary, the cooperatives generated losses and created financial problems, despite significant support from the state. The collectives created under administrative coercion fell apart in the second half of 1956, after the change in the state’s policy towards the countryside.
2025-03-07T00:00:00+01:00Copyright (c) 2025 Studia Mazowieckiehttps://www.studiamazowieckie.puzim.edu.pl/index.php/sm/article/view/87Changes in sowing structure of vegetable crops in Poland in 2018–20232025-03-07T15:27:57+01:00Ewelina Grochowskae.grochowska@green-crops.pl
In recent years, Polish agriculture, including vegetable production, has undergone significant structural changes due to numerous economic, climatic and political factors. The aim of this article is to comprehensively analyse changes in the sowing structure of vegetable crops in Poland in 2018–2023, using data from the Central Statistical Office and the latest scientific literature. The study provides a detailed analysis of changes in the cultivated area of various vegetable species, including lettuce, spinach, radish, tomatoes, peppers, onions, and carrots. Key determinants influencing the structure of sowing include evolving climatic conditions, which necessitate adaptation to prolonged droughts or periods of intense rainfall, and amendments to the European Union’s Common Agricultural Policy. Additionally, rising consumer awareness of environmental sustainability and the growing demand for healthy food have driven the expansion of vegetable crops with shorter growing cycles, such as baby leaf varieties (e.g., spinach and arugula) and lettuce. The analysis further highlights the role of technological advancements in transforming vegetable production, particularly through mechanization of harvesting processes and the adoption of innovative cultivation methods, such as the use of plastic tunnels. The findings suggest future trends in the vegetable production sector, emphasizing the increasing significance of organic farming and the promotion of local production to meet domestic market demands.
2025-03-07T00:00:00+01:00Copyright (c) 2024 Studia Mazowieckiehttps://www.studiamazowieckie.puzim.edu.pl/index.php/sm/article/view/88Vegetable cultivation and importance of irrigation in production2025-03-07T15:27:54+01:00Hatice Gürgülühatice.gurgulu@ege.edu.tr
In order to meet the food needs of the growing population in the world and in Turkey, people continue to produce crops intensively. Vegetables are preferred more than other plants in crop production areas due to their high economic value and their advantages in terms of health and nutrition. Increasing the amount of product in agricultural production in order to meet the need for food is only possible by increasing the factors that ensure plant growth. Irrigation is one of the main factors affecting production in plant development. The efficient utilization of water resources, which are diminishing as a result of population growth and climate change, has become a critical issue. In particular, the strategic and economical use of irrigation water for agricultural purposes is of paramount importance. This necessitates the application of water resources in crop production according to scientifi cally designed
programs and techniques to optimize efficiency and sustainability. In this study, vegetable production in the world and in Turkey is briefly discussed and some irrigation practices and their effects in vegetable cultivation, which is of great importance in terms of production, are tried to be compiled and evaluated. As a result, considering the inadequacy of water resources, it is recommended that pressurized and smart irrigation technologies, which also ensure the sustainability of natural resources, should be developed and disseminated.
2025-03-07T00:00:00+01:00Copyright (c) 2024 Studia Mazowieckiehttps://www.studiamazowieckie.puzim.edu.pl/index.php/sm/article/view/89Participation of the 11th Legion Uhlan Regiment from Ciechanów in the Coup D’Etat in 19262025-03-07T15:27:52+01:00Dariusz Piotrowiczdariuszpiotrowicz3@wp.pl
The subject of the article is the participation of the 11th Legion Uhlan Regiment from Ciechanów in the military coup in May 1926. Innovative activity is extremely important in the modernisation of Polish agriculture, it is associated with the introduction of changes, the dissemination of any novelties, the improvement of existing states, in order to increase production efficiency, reduce its costs. Innovations in agricultural holdings focus mainly on the purchase
of new equipment and agricultural machinery, the use of more efficient plant varieties, the adaptation of plant protection products or the selection of appropriate animal breeds to the prevailing conditions and the appropriate management of water consumption. The main objective of the research was to identify and characterise the innovations implemented and how they are managed on farms. The research tool was a survey questionnaire. A pilot survey was conducted in 2023 among 52 farm owners in the Ciechanów
district. The results showed that for a large proportion of respondents, innovations implemented on farms are associated with improving the farm’s capabilities and increasing its competitiveness on the market. In addition, innovative activities enable an increase in production, which can result in higher income on a given farm. The main reasons indicated by respondents for
implementing innovative solutions on farms are the desire to introduce more efficient solutions, increase farm income and reduce farm costs. The most frequently implemented innovation in the surveyed farms was the purchase of new machinery and equipment. When characterising the number and type of innovations implemented by farmers, special attention had to be paid to factors that discourage or prevent the use of the solutions in question on farms. Nearly one-third of respondents indicated the high cost of implementing innovations and the low level of government support as a key external barrier. Innovation in the agricultural sector, especially the purchase of new machinery and equipment, is often characterised by the need for high financial outlays. Innovation is a factor that allows for better production results, which is very important in the context of decreasing natural resources on the one hand and increasing food supply on the other. The surveyed farmers running farms in the Ciechanów district showed a pro-innovation approach. Farmers are constantly seeking modern solutions to enhance the quality of work on farms and their development.
2025-03-07T00:00:00+01:00Copyright (c) 2024 Studia Mazowieckiehttps://www.studiamazowieckie.puzim.edu.pl/index.php/sm/article/view/93A Sketch for a Portrait of Helena Née Stadnicka Krasińska (1844–1927): A Wife, Mother, Philanthropist2025-03-07T15:27:46+01:00Beata Woźniakbeata.wozniak@muzeumromantyzmu.pl
The author presents various aspects of the life of Józef Krasiński's wife, Helena née Stadnicka Krasińska (1844–1927). The author used available materials, largely archival, to develop it. The changes are presented in time divisions – the Middle Ages, the period around 1560–1580, 1665–1675, 1780, the period around 1810, 1825–1830, 1860–1865, 1880–1885, the period around 1900, 1925, and 1945. It ends with an epilogue describing the current state. Such time divisions were established in connection with the known accounts from these periods, allowing for a relatively full description of the role of these centers in the landscape. The numerical research results are not precise due to the omission of petty-nobility settlements and frequent ambiguities in the accounts. The role of owners or disposers of landed estate centers in the cultural environment, leading local communities for centuries, is also noted.
2025-03-07T00:00:00+01:00Copyright (c) 2024 Studia Mazowieckiehttps://www.studiamazowieckie.puzim.edu.pl/index.php/sm/article/view/95A Selection of Materials Concerning the Preparation and Introduction of Martial Law in the Ciechanów Voivodeship. Part 3: Annex2025-03-07T15:27:40+01:00Leszek Zygnerleszek.zygner@pansim.edu.pl
The operation to introduce martial law in the Ciechanów voivodeship included five main actions: interrupting and taking control of communications, internment of the most engaged activists of Solidarity, conducting warning talks with previously selected activists and oppositionists, who were required to sign a declaration of loyalty, taking over several strategic facilities in the voivodeship, and militarization of selected workplaces in order to prevent possible strikes and sabotage. The bodies supporting the actions of the army, the militia and the Security Service during martial law were the courts, which, pursuant to the December decree, sentenced summarily persons accused of violating the law, who were proven to have committed a crime. The first of them in the Ciechanów voivodeship was twenty-six-year-old Elżbieta Błońska (Walesiak), whose case files pending before the District Court in Ciechanów –
currently kept in the Archives of the Institute of National Remembrance in Warsaw – supplement the materials published in the previous parts of this selection of source texts on martial law in the Ciechanów voivodeship.
2025-03-07T00:00:00+01:00Copyright (c) 2025 Studia Mazowieckie
