The Roads of Płock in the 19th and Early 20th Centuries

Abstract

This article covers the history of roads (including streets and public squares in the broad sense) within the city limits of Płock during the second half of the 19th and early 20th century. The study is based mainly on Russian-language archival documents from the period. The materials, focusing on road and bridge infrastructure and maintenance, are of interest not only to historians and regional archivists but also to contemporary road engineers referencing historical practices.
