This study presents the course and results of research into the condition of the parish church in Pawłowo Kościelne (Czernice Borowe commune, Przasnysz County), conducted before its general renovation in the late 1980s. The author’s starting point was his diploma thesis entitled Pawłowo. Parish Church, Czernice Borowe Commune, Ciechanów Voivodeship. Architectural and Historical Research 1987–1988, written at the Postgraduate Study of Architectural Heritage Research at the Faculty of Architecture of the Warsaw University of Technology (supervisor: Assoc. Prof. Maria Brykowska), as well as later supplements to its historical section. The author also presents conservation-related considerations and conclusions, together with recommendations–still relevant today – for possible further research. Information on the condition of the church immediately after the renovation and its current state is also provided. In the author’s view , the church in Pawłowo is an underestimated monument, and it should be acknowledged that it has become the subject of broader research, which — especially in archival materials — ought to be continued. The results may serve as a contribution to a synthesis of 16th-century architecture in Mazovia, a topic that remains insuffi ciently known to a wider audience.
