A Selection of Documents of the Department for Religious Affairs of the Voivodeship Office in Ostrołęka (1975–1989) from the Collections of the Central Archives of Modern Records in Warsaw

Abstract

The activity of the Department for Religious Affairs of the Voivodeship Office in Ostrołęka in the years 1975–1989, formally subordinate both to the newly established Ostrołęka Voivode (from 1975) and to the Offi ce for Religious Affairs in Warsaw, constituted one of the instruments for implementing the religious policy of the authorities of the Polish People’s Republic. In addition to numerous documents of this department currently held in the State Archives in Warsaw, Pułtusk Branch, many documents have also been preserved in the Central Archives of Modern Records in Warsaw. This selection includes documents concerning conversations with clergy conducted during meetings with representatives of state administration and with the director of the department, statistical reports on the development of religious relations in the Ostrołęka Voivodeship, annual reports on the religious situation and on the department’s activities, as well as post-inspection documents of the department.
