The aim of the article is to analyse the significance of defence education as an instrument for building social resilience and strengthening regional security in the context of contemporary hybrid, information, social, and crisis-related threats. The starting point is a relational and process-oriented understanding of security, according to which security is not a static condition but the result of interactions among the security entity, the threat environment, institutional resources, and the level of social awareness. The article assumes that defence education performs a stabilizing function, as it promotes an appropriate perception of threats, reduces vulnerability to disinformation, strengthens social capital, and prepares citizens for rational action in emergency situations. Special attention is devoted to the Mazovian region, which, due to the concentration of capital-city functions, critical infrastructure, public institutions, and higher education institutions, as well as its spatial and social diversity, constitutes an important area for regional security studies. The study employs theoretical methods, including the analysis and critical review of the literature, synthesis, abstraction, and inference. The article concludes that defence education should be treated as an integral component of
regional security and, in the Mazovian context, requires an interdisciplinary model embedded both in the formal education system and in the activities of local communities, local government, and higher education institutions.
